Who are the future leaders of the credit union industry? Will they come from industries outside the credit union movement? Will they come from inside your organization?
These are all important questions to be asking your CEO and your Board members as we transition to a new CU model. Yes, the future will require us to respond to a “reset economy” or an overhaul of priorities as noted by Jeff Immelt, CEO of GE. New economic conditions require members to rethink retirement, struggle to keep or find a job and rebuild savings one dollar at a time. Future leaders must have the energy and experience to “reset” your credit union. Makes me think that we can all learn from the core values of the World Council’s credit union development efforts. Congratulations to Barry Jolette for his many, many years of commitment to developing credit unions worldwide and for his recent appointment to Chair of WOCCU.
